Outdoor Learning!

10th Nov 2020

The children have really been enjoying their time in the mud kitchen. As well as being great fun, the mud kitchen provides so many different learning opportunities.

  • They have access to a range of tools and utensils, which is developing their physical and fine motor skills, getting their hands and muscles ready for holding writing tools later in school life. We have a large container with a tap and the children use this independently to fill smaller spray bottles for use in the mud kitchen.
  • They have the best opportunities to share and play co operatively with their friends.
  • They can develop their sense of imagination, curiosity and exploration.
  • They are exposed to a range of mathematical concepts and language in measuring, pouring and filling.
  • Their language is developing, using descriptive words and engaging in role play.
  • They can develop an understanding of the world around them and explore and experiment with everyday and natural items.
  • They are developing independence and practising their self help skills when getting themselves ready for play.

We also hope to have the large digging area up and going soon to allow for even more learning opportunities!
